Update!

I finally got a chance to update the blog today!! It's been a crazy past 3 weeks!  We packed up our house and moved two weeks ago...and it has been a whirlwind!  I probably wouldn't recommend it, but we made it through!! We are slowly getting settled and are loving our new place!  The girls are doing really well.  Kaia has adjusted really well and loves her new room-she's actually been sleeping through the night from day 1 (knock on wood)!  Kinley is just a carbon copy of her sister as a baby...I'm not sure how that worked out!! She only takes about 30 minute naps during the day, unless I'm holding her...then she'll sleep for 3 hours if I don't put her down.  But she is getting better about sitting in her seat or laying on the floor for 15-20 minutes at a time, so I've been able to get a little bit done.  Thankfully she does pretty well at night...she usually sleeps 4-5 hours during the 1st stretch and 2-3 during the 2nd, so I will take it!!  She loves to watch Kaia and loves when Kaia sings and talks to her.  Kaia loves her sister a lot and does a good job entertaining herself for the most part when I'm busy with Kinley.  She likes to sing and dance for Kinley (shocker, I know!), but for the most part she just does her own thing.  She does a pretty good job of entertaining us as well.  She has such a quick wit and always keeps us laughing. Here are a couple of her quotes from the past week:

  • "Every time I see sprinkles they just convince me to eat them."
  • "These chips are so good, I'm just embarrassed to eat the rest of my food."
  • Our blinds on our sliding glass door keep falling down so Kaia said, "Maybe we should put them someplace else.  Like the garbage!"

Sisters!!

Smiley Girl!!

Here are the 1st pictures of Kinley's sweet smile!! She started smiling at us at 4 weeks old!! She especially loves to smile at her daddy and Kaia!!  She smiles the most in the morning when she first wakes up and when she gets her diaper changed! Unfortunately I don't have many more pictures because she always smiles the most after I put the camera down!!

Three Weeks Old!

Our little glowworm was 3 weeks old yesterday!! It never ceases to amaze me how much she is like Kaia!! She is still not sleeping much during the day...in fact this week it has gotten worse.  It must be because I had my first few days alone with the girls. Kinley will stay awake for a couple hours and then just sleep for about 30 minutes and be up again.  When she is awake she wants to be held...she does NOT like her seat and isn't much of a fan of the swing yet.  Kaia was the exact same way.  She is sleeping fairly well at night, so I am thankful for that.  But it makes the daytime difficult...it's hard to do projects with Kaia and next to impossible to pack.  We've had some friends come over and play with Kaia, though, so that has helped her out a lot.  And Kaia has been really good for me this week-she's been entertaining herself well and been a big helper!!  The tantrums have gotten better-she seems to be much better for me if it's just me around.  The tantrums seem to come when other people are here helping or are here to play with her.  Then I think she just gets overexcited.  Of course I mention how little Kinley sleeps for me during the day...then tonight I got a chance to get out and run some errands SOLO(!!) for an hour and a half tonight.  While I was gone Kinley slept the WHOLE time for Daddy!  Silly little girl!!

Two Weeks Old!

Well, I'm a week late in posting this, but things are a little crazy around our house! Between managing a newborn who doesn't sleep much during the day, a 3 year-old who is adjusting to everything, and packing up our house, it is nonstop around here! Kinley went to the doctor for her 2 week checkup and everything went great! She'd gained 1 pound in a week and had grown another 1/4 inch, so she weighed 8 lbs and was 21 1/2 inches long! We're so glad to have a growing girl!
