It has been a crazy first week, for sure. We found out on Saturday that Kinley had jaundice, so we ended up staying at the hospital all afternoon so that she could stay under the light. We finally got to go home that night, but had to bring home a bili light to keep on her in order to keep her level from going too high and therefore having to go back to the hospital. We had to go back on Sunday and Monday to have her tested. The level increased each day, so we had to continue to keep the light on her constantly. She also was having lots of trouble with nursing and when we went to the pediatrician on Monday she had lost quite a bit of weight. So the first few days were really stressful. We started supplementing with formula and she started doing better. At her doctor's appointment on Thursday she had gained back almost all of her weight and her level had gone down enough that we were able to get rid of that crazy light!! She's been sleeping well at night, but has been awake a LOT during the day. This is so much better than being up at night, but when she is awake she is fussy unless you're moving around with her...so it makes it difficult to get much done!! So far she is like a clone of Kaia. I had all the same issues with Kaia when she was a newborn, except for the jaundice. So it's going to be interesting to see if she continues to act the same way as her big sister! Kaia is doing great with her-she helps me out a lot and is really proud of her baby sister. There are a few behavioral issues...mostly when I am busy feeding the baby and have difficulty correcting the behavior!! But this is to be expected and Kaia really is doing even better than I expected!! I'm hoping this next week brings us a little more of a routine and a way to figure out how to keep Kinley happy when she's awake!!
My little glowworm!!
She's like a little nightlight!!
