What A Week!

It has been a crazy first week, for sure.  We found out on Saturday that Kinley had jaundice, so we ended up staying at the hospital all afternoon so that she could stay under the light.  We finally got to go home that night, but had to bring home a bili light to keep on her in order to keep her level from going too high and therefore having to go back to the hospital.  We had to go back on Sunday and Monday to have her tested.  The level increased each day, so we had to continue to keep the light on her constantly.  She also was having lots of trouble with nursing and when we went to the pediatrician on Monday she had lost quite a bit of weight.  So the first few days were really stressful.  We started supplementing with formula and she started doing better.  At her doctor's appointment on Thursday she had gained back almost all of her weight and her level had gone down enough that we were able to get rid of that crazy light!!  She's been sleeping well at night, but has been awake a LOT during the day.  This is so much better than being up at night, but when she is awake she is fussy unless you're moving around with her...so it makes it difficult to get much done!!  So far she is like a clone of Kaia.  I had all the same issues with Kaia when she was a newborn, except for the jaundice.  So it's going to be interesting to see if she continues to act the same way as her big sister!  Kaia is doing great with her-she helps me out a lot and is really proud of her baby sister.  There are a few behavioral issues...mostly when I am busy feeding the baby and have difficulty correcting the behavior!! But this is to be expected and Kaia really is doing even better than I expected!!  I'm hoping this next week brings us a little more of a routine and a way to figure out how to keep Kinley happy when she's awake!!

  My little glowworm!!

She's like a little nightlight!!

KINLEY GRACE SWAIM!!

Our baby girl is here!! Kinley Grace Swaim was born last night at 7:57 p.m.  She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and is 21 inches long!!  The induction went great and she was such a calm little thing when she was born...she barely cried and just had her eyes open, looking around at everyone!  She's quite the night owl...she was wide awake until midnight and then was up off and on until about 2:30 a.m. until she finally quieted down.  It turns out she still has some fluid that she swallowed, and so she's been spitting up a lot to day and fussy...which is probably why she had difficulty sleeping last night.  Kaia got to see her right after she was born, and she was SOO excited!  She loves her little sister.  She wasn't too happy when Kinley had to get her shots, though, and she cried a lot because she was really upset.  Once she saw Kinley wasn't even crying she started to feel much better!  We're all doing really well and are feeling so blessed that everything went so well and are happy to be a family of four!!

And waiting...

Well, our due date came and passed yesterday!  Still no baby!!  We had our doctor's appointment and she said she will induce me on Thursday.  Still no contractions, so it's looking like Thursday will be the day!  I'm definitely glad to know there is an end in sight!  The weather has been gorgeous, so it's been really nice to be able to enjoy it!  We had a great Mother's Day...I was having contractions late last week so Julie went ahead and came up, so she was here for it.  So was Josh's brother Jon.  We had a relaxing day and Kaia loved being able to get out her water table!  We got her pool out today and she had a blast splashing all over the place.  Tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous too, so we're looking forward to enjoying more sunshine!! And hopefully some rest before the big day!!

Still Waiting...

Well, we are still waiting for Baby Swaim to make her debut!! I will be 40 weeks on Saturday and her due date is on Monday May 14th (not sure exactly how that works out that they're on different days, but for some reason it does).  This time has been different than it was with Kaia.  I was at 2-3 cm by this time with Kaia, but am only at 1 cm this time.  I had Braxton-Hicks contractions with Kaia for the last few weeks, but haven't had any this time around.  Kaia was 5 days late, so I'm not sure what that means for this baby!!  All I know is that we're ready for her to come anytime...hopefully soon!!

What Kaia's been up to...

We've been busy doing lots of fun things this month.  Here are a few things that Kaia has been up to lately...

One night we worked on making some new flower clips for Kaia and her baby sister.  Here she is modeling one.

Here are the clips we made.

Kaia loves practicing to be a ballerina and wearing her costume!

Kaia has been practicing giving herself a tattoo.  At least she's practicing writing her name!!  The top says KAIA and the big letters are A and K.

We've been having lots of crazy storms lately.  The benefit is that we've gotten to see a few rainbows!  Here is a double rainbow we saw one night!

Before-Prom!

A couple weeks ago our high school had their prom.  They host a Before-Prom event where friends and family can come to the high school and see everyone in their tuxes and beautiful dresses!  It was a lot of fun and Kaia loved seeing all her friends from youth group!! Here are a few of her friends she got to see...

 With Kait

With Shelby...this was Kaia's favorite dress!!

With Sarah and Jack...Kaia is usually really shy around Jack so we were lucky to get a picture with him where she is smiling!!
