Kaia went to her first baseball game last night! Davis County made it to the semi-final round of the state tournament, so we went to Principal Park to watch! Kaia had a great time seeing Mahmoo and Popple, her uncles, and her cousins! And she watched a little bit of the game too. They didn't end up winning, but it was an exciting game to watch! It was a gorgeous night and Kaia got to stay up WAY past her bedtime!! Gotta love summertime!

Bedtime Story
Last night after Kaia's bath I asked her if she wanted a yogurt before she went to bed. She said, "no, mommy. bed." So we just went right up to her bed and laid down. She rustled around for a while and then she poked me and said, "mommy, yoghurt." So I told her to stay there and I would go get it for her. She looked at me, put her hands on her hips, and said, "me do it eye-yelf (myself)." She said it so seriously that I just had to laugh. I told her "you're a real deal, Kaia." On the way out of her room she looked at me and said, "real deal, mommy. I know."

What we've been up to...
We've been enjoying the summer days. Kaia and I both have colds this week, which has been a big bummer, but hopefully we'll be feeling better soon. Last week she went to the zoo with Finnean, the science center with Daddy, and to visit Mahmoo & Aunt Mandy and the cousins while Daddy worked. She's been having lots of fun hanging out with Uncle "Non" and going to the "big poo-ya" (big pool...we have a big aquatic center that we like to go hang out at). She's also been getting into plenty of mischief...as shown below.
Kaia took a pen apart and it got all over her and our couch on Monday. After numerous baths and rubbing alcohol, her tummy is still a shade of blue.
Camp!!
Last Wednesday Josh, Kaia, and I headed to Grinnell to visit Summer Games University! Summer Games is the camp Josh and I met at 8 years ago, so it holds a special place in our lives! They hold the camp once a year now, on the Grinnell College campus, and it was the first time we've been back since they turned it into SGU! The Wednesday night service was awesome and we had such a great time catching up with good friends! Our friends Liz & Doug and Simon & Megan are part of the staff, so they were there with their kiddos (Jaxon, Slater, and Coley) for the week. Kaia loved playing with them and Jaxon did a great job keeping her entertained! She loves seeing them when we go back to Davenport to visit, but it was really special seeing them all together at camp! She doesn't look so happy in these pictures, but I promise she had a great time...she just didn't want anything to do with the camera!
Nana and Papa's
We went to see Nana and Papa a few weeks ago and I'm just now getting these uploaded!! We had a great time and we all loved the new camper!!

Memorable Maisy Moments
- Kaia's newest favorite video is "Marney" (Barney)... she especially loves Baby Bop. We bought her a new video a couple weeks ago and she watched it on the way to Mahmoo and Popple's. One of her favorite songs on the video is one where Baby Bop sings about her yellow blankie--Kaia sings all the words! When we got to Mahmoo's, Kaia discovered a yellow jersey knit pillowcase, which immediately became her "yeyow blankie." She carried it around all weekend and had to bring it home with her. It became her new lovey and for the last couple weeks she always had to have her "yeyow blankie" like Baby Bop. She's finally eased off it a bit and has gone back to sleeping with her regular blankie, but she still gets excited when she finds her yellow blankie lying around somewhere.
- We've weaned Kaia from calling her dad "dosh", and now she's back to calling him "dayee" (daddy). We thought we were on the right track until this weekend at Josh's parents' house. Kaia had gone downstairs to get the laundry with Mahmoo, and when she came up she said, "Hi Dosh, hi Kaitwyn" as though it was the most normal thing in the world!! She has NEVER called me Kaitlyn before this, even when we've tried to get her to say my name. Then out of the blue she's started calling me by my first name. She's still mostly calling me mommy, but Wednesday night when I got home she said "Hi Kaitwyn". Silly little girl!
- She loves the "a-b-yees" (abc's) song and can sing it by herself now, which she does repeatedly. She also loves to count to 14, although she always skips the number 3, which used to be her favorite number that she said all the time.
- Her other favorite song is "yock a-bye" (rock a-bye baby), which she always sings to her babies after wrapping them in her "yeyow blankie". She asked me to sing it to her last night while I rocked her before bed and she sang along, making the funniest faces that I couldn't make it throug the song without cracking up laughing.
- Our favorite thing she says is "oh yeah". She says it in response to everything. Example: one night we were going upstairs to bed and she said "dark mommy" and I said "yes it's dark because it's time for night night" and Kaia said "oh yeah mommy".

4th of July
We had a great 4th of July weekend! Kaia stayed with Grandma Julie and Grandpa Kurt while Josh and I had a little getaway to Chicago. We stayed with our friends Sara and Tony, went to a Cubs game, and did lots of shopping! My kind of vacation!! On Sunday all the kids were in the parade supporting Grandpa Kurt in his re-election to the Statehouse, and Kaia loved keeping an eye out for all the dogs on the parade route! She took a late nap, so she got to go to the fireworks. She was pretty tired by the end, but she loved seeing all the "colors" in the "sky". She kept saying "whoa!" Here are a few pictures!
