Memorable Maisy Moments

  • Kaia's newest favorite video is "Marney" (Barney)... she especially loves Baby Bop. We bought her a new video a couple weeks ago and she watched it on the way to Mahmoo and Popple's. One of her favorite songs on the video is one where Baby Bop sings about her yellow blankie--Kaia sings all the words! When we got to Mahmoo's, Kaia discovered a yellow jersey knit pillowcase, which immediately became her "yeyow blankie." She carried it around all weekend and had to bring it home with her. It became her new lovey and for the last couple weeks she always had to have her "yeyow blankie" like Baby Bop. She's finally eased off it a bit and has gone back to sleeping with her regular blankie, but she still gets excited when she finds her yellow blankie lying around somewhere.
  • We've weaned Kaia from calling her dad "dosh", and now she's back to calling him "dayee" (daddy). We thought we were on the right track until this weekend at Josh's parents' house. Kaia had gone downstairs to get the laundry with Mahmoo, and when she came up she said, "Hi Dosh, hi Kaitwyn" as though it was the most normal thing in the world!! She has NEVER called me Kaitlyn before this, even when we've tried to get her to say my name. Then out of the blue she's started calling me by my first name. She's still mostly calling me mommy, but Wednesday night when I got home she said "Hi Kaitwyn". Silly little girl!
  • She loves the "a-b-yees" (abc's) song and can sing it by herself now, which she does repeatedly. She also loves to count to 14, although she always skips the number 3, which used to be her favorite number that she said all the time.
  • Her other favorite song is "yock a-bye" (rock a-bye baby), which she always sings to her babies after wrapping them in her "yeyow blankie". She asked me to sing it to her last night while I rocked her before bed and she sang along, making the funniest faces that I couldn't make it throug the song without cracking up laughing.
  • Our favorite thing she says is "oh yeah". She says it in response to everything. Example: one night we were going upstairs to bed and she said "dark mommy" and I said "yes it's dark because it's time for night night" and Kaia said "oh yeah mommy".
